Burn down, burn down, burn down, burn down...
Long days, dragging on longer, if I’m not to
learn from this, then I might as well be dead.
Count fifteen things, that I am grateful for,
then burn the list and move onto the next.
Smouldering hopes, but I’m climbing higher,
time to realise that I’m the biggest denier.
Cindered souls in danger, ashen white faces,
scraping the embers of a life I once embraced.
Sifting through joys, burnt photos of your
boy, kamikaze outlook, flickered glimpse of
life enjoyed. Time to move along, and bulldoze
all those songs, smear-the-chalk-off-the-
blackboard, and erase all that’s wrong.
Fuelling the anger, consuming the passion,
extinguish the faces, scarred memories ashen.
Burn down, down, down, again...
Blue heat, of incinerated melodies
Black ash, of carbonised luxuries
After, after the fire, after, after the fire.
It’s not my face melting in the blaze, living
in boxes, feel a burning craze. If all you feel
is stifled, and destinations blurred, no future
on horizons, tomorrow’s deferred.
Then why not burn a bible, and fight for
survival, religion will kill you while
you fight in your sleep. Charcoal dreams,
vapourised memories, incinerated baggage, it’s
all good cleansing.
Fuelling the anger, consuming the passion,
extinguish the faces, scarred memories ashen.
Burn down, down, down, again...
Blue heat, of incinerated melodies
Black ash, of carbonised luxuries
After, after the fire, after, after the fire.
